Retirement Wealth of New Zealand Households: An Initial Analysis based on the Household Savings Survey
Statistics New Zealand has recently released the results of a new survey of the assets and liabilities of New Zealand households. This is the first time in New Zealand that a national survey has provided data on the assets and liabilities of households. The objective of this paper is to use this data on the net worth of individuals and couples to make a preliminary assessment of how adequately they have accumulated wealth that could be the basis for income in retirement. There is no unique measure of adequacy. 2003.
