Monitoring

The Retirement Commissioner is responsible for monitoring the effects of the Retirement Villages Act 2003, the regulations and the Code of Practice.

With the Act having been fully in force since 1 May 2007 a monitoring programme started in 2008. The programme will span a five-year period and each year will focus on one of the following groups: statutory supervisors, owner/operators, residents, intending residents and the disputes panel process.

In 2010/11 the monitoring project looked at the Act, the regulations and the Codes from the perspective of residents.
